Profile L

On Tuesday, Mr. Whiting came to our class, Mrs. Narsimans class. We learned about profiles. We got to find out which profile we were. Everyone has a dominant hand, foot, eye, ear and side of your brain.  All of my right side was dominant. Everyone is different though. At the end of the class, we got the chance to read about our selves. I was surprised about what it said about me. We got to hear good things about us and a few bad things. We also got information on how to help ourselves. You are either Logic or Gestalt. They are sides of your brain. I am gestalt. My profile is profile L.

I learn best through movement and by focusing on the whole picture, context and emotional relevance to self. If I fidget around or doodle a lot during class, then, I can focus better. When I am doing homework, it's good when I am listening to music. Again, it helps me focus. I learn best by not disturbing people and keeping my inner feelings to myself. I prefer not to follow step-by-step instructions. I tend to start by imaginating the end results and then intuitively doing what seems appropriate.

I need to move while processing internally with minimal external sensory stimulus, I need to move around in the class when I am doing work. I also need to have quiet time alone, especially when integrating new ideas and under stress. When I am under stress, I cannot read, see or hear. All of my senses shut down.

The strategies that would help me in my learning is that I will benefit from sitting where I can process internally, quietly and move without disturbing other learners. Some activities that will help me is lazy 8's and Thinking Caps form Brian Gym, Blinking while tracking with the eyes, megaphones, integrated cross-lateral hand and foot play like knitting, writing and drawing with the non-dominant hand, conscious walking, dancing, soccer, and martial arts like Tai Chi. An integrative balance of art, music, movement and interpersonal skills combined with cognitive endeavors in linguistics and mathematics will be highly beneficial. When I fiddle around with things or listen to music I can focus better.

I would like my teachers to know this about me I can focus more when I fiddle around with things or draw. I would like them to also know that when I listen to music or draw or move I can focus better. When I am under stress I am not any help. I have trouble listening and reading. My whole side of my Brain shuts off and I lose all of my senses. When I am relaxed I am a lot better at things. I am better at sports, dance, ect. I am under stress usually when I have a lot of homework.
