When Jonas learns all about colors, he claims "it isn't fair that nothing has color". Why does he say this?
Color is important to the world. Without color, everything would be really boring. No one will get to see color. They wouldn't be able to see rainbows. More importantly, people wouldn't be able to enjoy the beauty of colors. When people meet each other, they will not be able to ask, "what is your favorite color." They wouldn't be able to know what color will be like if they were eating pancakes, they wouldn't know what color it would be and that would be disgusting.
No one will know what color of the sky is. What if they thought the color of the sky was pink? They wouldn't know. Its not fair to not have any color around you. When people wanted to paint, they couldn't because there is no point. There would just be gray or white or black everywhere. They wouldn't be able to love the true beauty of colors. Everything would be the same color and nothing would stand out or be beautiful as much as color would be if color was in the community.
He wants to know more about colors. When Jonas' friends, Asher, tosses the apple to him and it changes color he was really interested in what happened. He loved the color that the apple had changed to. In a world without color, if I tossed an apple and it changed color, I am pretty sure that I would like to know a lot more about color. So far only Jonas wants to learn more about color because he was the only one who saw the color of the apple change from gray, black, or white, to red.
Colors express people. Whatever color you wear or like really expresses you a lot. I know that color is a big part of who you are. Colors can help cure you. This is no joke. Colors can really heal your body a lot. Two of my brothers got cured by color so this is not fair that Jonas can't have this or that his community can't have color. I think that these are all of the reasons why Jonas really wants color in the world.

Do you think that you should have your life be chosen by other people?
I definetley think that no one should have their life be chosen by other people. Life is all about choises and to make your own choises in life. In the book, Jonas wasn't allowed to choose his job, family members or wife. I would be really angry if I had to live under these rules. I would be so angry and wouldn't want to live in that community, but for Jonas, they didn't know any better and that these things weren't fair and wrong.
Having your own job be chosen is better than having your family members and wife/husband be chosen for you. I think that its alright because they don't just choose a job, they take all of the people and make little files for each person so that they know what they are good at or what they do often to help them choose their job. But sometimes they don't like the job.
Having their family members is the worst thing that they can't choose. They had to like their parents and siblings. If they didn't they would be showing their emotions to them like, angry, or sad, happy. They are not allowed to show their emotions. How ever, every family has their fights, but in this community they weren't allowed to. You wouldn't get to have your blood related child.
How ever having your wife be chosen was second worst because the elders would choose the girls they hang out with the most. But, if you hang out with a girl she might just get chosen to be you wife. Anyway,I think that most people will not like this because they will be stuck with them for the rest of their life. If they were with someone they didn't like, they had to be stuck with them. If they were with someone that they did like, they would be happy.
I think that the people in the community, including the elders, don't know that these things aren't fair because the weren't allowed to show emotion. In the book emotion is called stirrings and people needed to take pills so that they didn't show these emotions around the community. They have to like what they are stuck with because if they didn't they would probably show their emotions for the people or for the job. So, as you can see, I don't think that it is very fair to have your life be chosen by other people.

King Tut imovie
Why do you think Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs created monuments?
I think that Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs created monuments to show how important the gods, kings, and some pharaohs were. Monuments show how important they were because they have carved things into the monument of important times for the king. They have the king and all of the things she/he loved as a child or while she/he were growing up. It has different places that shows the pharaohs culture and what he/she did for the Egyptians. One room for king Tut was full of his organs. This is why the monuments are important. Also because it holds everything about the kings, pharaohs or gods.
What monuments in our society are similar?
There are a lot of monuments in our society that are similar. There is the eiffel tower and this is simular because they are both and important to their countries and they are big buildings. Twin tower is a monument and it is similar because again it is very important and it is an eye catcher around the world. London eye, big Ben, Washington monument, Lincoln memorial, tajmahal, statue of liberty, great wall of china, Sidney Oprah house, white house, are a few more examples they all symbolize something to there culture or country. For example, the statue of liberty symbolizes peace, justice and liberty for the Americans. As you can see that there are a lot of monuments in our society.
How did using google docs as the main portal for collaboration help you with this assignment?
It helped because we can share it with each other and fix mistakes and work together. When we share it with each other that gives us the opportunity to see what each other has done and you can both be working on it at the same time and share information and it give us the chance to not erase each others work because we know what each other has done. We can give helpful hints to each other.
What did you learn about during this assignment?
I learned a lot about king Tut. I learned all about his monument and the five rooms, the antechamber, entrance, annex and the last two.... I also figured out how old he was when he first started his reign being king. He was 10 and when he died he was 6 inches tall when he died at age 19. King Tut prayed to only one god, Amen-re. He forced the entire Egypt to only worship one god, Amen-re. They all celebrated the festival of Amen-re or the Opet festival.
What was challenging?
I think that the challenging part was finishing it in time. We only had two days to make the entire imovie. Me and Kamilla recorded the entire thing and added all of the pictures. One the second day we added the real pictures and we didn't finish in time so we had to come in at lunch. We didn't finish it in 2 classes but we got it done. The only thing we didn't do was upload it.
What school wide learning results were evident in this assignment?
The school wide learning results that were evident in this assignment was collaborating constructively because we have to work together to do each half of the work and work together to finish everything in the amount of time that we had. We needed to collaborate constructively so that each of us can do a lot of work.

City Connections Powerpoint
One thing that I think I need to improve on is having good eye contact. I looked at a few people but I didn't look at everyone. It is important to memorize mostly everything because then you can look around at the audience. Everyone can hear you much better because you will be facing more at them and not the screen so you can read it off there. Another thing I need to work on is to not fiddle or shake and move around a lot because then I won't sound so shakey and people can focus on the presentation and not me fiddling around. I should probably bring note cards next time because then I wouldn't be reading off of the screen and reading the large list of facts in front of them.
I learned a lot from my information as well as the class did. I knew a few things but, then while I was reaserching about it, I could learn a lot more things. I learned how many people are in my home contry and how many people are male and female. I also learned a lot about the enviroment like that the city was built on a swamp and that the district has three natural flowing bodies of water, the Patomac River and two tributaries, the Anacostia River and Rock Creek. I also learned many historical factors about it.
I personally think that I did a great job on my overall preformance. I had a lound voice, I had a lot of information and maps, I didn't have very good eye contact but I still looked at a few people, I had a clear voice and I didn't really fiddle too much. I do think that I did a good job but next time there are a few things that I need to add to make it a bit better and stop reading off of the screen.

New Year's Resolutions
During the lovely break, a lot of new kids transferred or move to different schools. There are a lot of new kids that came to ISKL especially 6th grade. No new kids are in my class but I still want to help others more so that they aren't so worried about moving and new friends and so they get to know the school better. I am not a peer helper but that doesn't mean that I don't have to help the new students when either their peer is somewhere else or they are absent.
Getting organized is very important because it helps you in school, you aren't losing things more often, you keep things clean and neat and sometimes in an order. You also stay prepared and have everything where you want and where you need it. I need to get organized because I don't keep things clean and I am not always prepared and I sometime lose things.
Over the break, I stayed in KL. This probably means that I won't do much because there might not be a lot of things to do around the house. I didn't do much of the bigger things, instead I did more littler things. For Christmas, I wanted to go to sleep early. It was very hard for me to get all of my family asleep. After that, when they were all asleep, me and my sister planned to get up early and take a shower. I set my alarm on my phone and it went off early in the morning like I planned. I told my little brother and he also woke up. We had to be super careful not to wake up anyone else. Me and my sister and my little brother ran down the stairs and saw all of the presents. Santa came!!!
For new year's eve, I watched T.V. That night we had dinner and then had sparkling juice. We went to see the fireworks but they were blocked behind the buildings. Since we didn't have such a great new year because of the buildings, the next morning we watched the ball drop in New York on T.V. Watching the ball drop reminded me of America. In America we always used to watch the ball drop and we used to watch the fireworks. In January I went ice skating in Sunway Piramad with a girl and her family. The girl had diabetes and she was very nice. As soon as my skates touched the ice I was so scared because I was worried that I would slip because this was my first time going ice skating. I had a very fun vacation doing little things but I was getting bored but it was a relaxing break not having to worry about airplane rides, hotels, keys and suitcases.

Profile L
I learn best through movement and by focusing on the whole picture, context and emotional relevance to self. If I fidget around or doodle a lot during class, then, I can focus better. When I am doing homework, it's good when I am listening to music. Again, it helps me focus. I learn best by not disturbing people and keeping my inner feelings to myself. I prefer not to follow step-by-step instructions. I tend to start by imaginating the end results and then intuitively doing what seems appropriate.
I need to move while processing internally with minimal external sensory stimulus, I need to move around in the class when I am doing work. I also need to have quiet time alone, especially when integrating new ideas and under stress. When I am under stress, I cannot read, see or hear. All of my senses shut down.
The strategies that would help me in my learning is that I will benefit from sitting where I can process internally, quietly and move without disturbing other learners. Some activities that will help me is lazy 8's and Thinking Caps form Brian Gym, Blinking while tracking with the eyes, megaphones, integrated cross-lateral hand and foot play like knitting, writing and drawing with the non-dominant hand, conscious walking, dancing, soccer, and martial arts like Tai Chi. An integrative balance of art, music, movement and interpersonal skills combined with cognitive endeavors in linguistics and mathematics will be highly beneficial. When I fiddle around with things or listen to music I can focus better.
I would like my teachers to know this about me I can focus more when I fiddle around with things or draw. I would like them to also know that when I listen to music or draw or move I can focus better. When I am under stress I am not any help. I have trouble listening and reading. My whole side of my Brain shuts off and I lose all of my senses. When I am relaxed I am a lot better at things. I am better at sports, dance, ect. I am under stress usually when I have a lot of homework.
